Efficient and energy-efficient dosing and pumping

SUURMOND pump unit with a MAAG gear pump

In the process industry there is a wide choice of types of pumps. Depending on the process for which the pump is used, the selection is limited. When a pump is used for dosing additives, for example, or for pumping water, the choice will quickly fall to gear pumps or centrifugal pumps respectively.

Centrifugal pumps

Centrifugal pumps are traditionally driven at speed. To achieve the desired volume flow, the pressure line is pinched. This is best compared to a garden hose that is connected to the tap, where the tap is fully opened and the hose is then pinched so that only a small stream of water comes out. This creates a higher pressure in the pipe that would not actually be necessary if the tap were to be opened only a little. At that moment, the pressure (and therefore the problem) is moved to the tap.

In fact, a lot of energy is used to build up a pressure, which is not necessary for a small stream. In this way, a lot of energy is wasted during the life of the pump over many years, because centrifugal pumps often have large installed capacities. 100 - 350 kW is not unusual. There's a lot to save here.

Limit your CO2 emissions and save on energy costs with gear pumps

The speed of gear pumps is often controlled via frequency conversion of the e-motor. The speed of the gear pumps is adjusted with a flow meter or a "load cell" and a closed-loop control in such a way that the pump delivers the desired volume flow. Here, dosing accuracies of 0.1 ... 5% can be achieved. As a result, no more pressure is built up than necessary and much more efficient and energy-efficient pumping can be done.

The gear pumps that Suurmond supplies all have relatively small installed capacities. These typically vary between 0.2 kW and 18.5 kW! In short: the gear pump solution offers significant energy savings over centrifugal pumps.

Your choice

Where centrifugal pumps often have large installed capacities, gear pumps are all very effective and efficient! Do you want to limit your CO2 emissions and save on energy costs? Then gear pumps are the best choice.

DEMANDING PROCESSES, SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS!

Quick cleaning and smart retrofitting with different pump sizes

This new MAAG pump series, called “FQ” – ‘quick cleaning’ version, is being released for the production facilities with a constant need to clean and wash the transfer line at the end of each production batch, use different colours, use different additives etc. The pump can be disassembled quickly without needing to dismantle the drive shaft from the drive motor and the seal.

The FQ can be disassembled quickly without needing to dismantle the drive shaft from the drive motor and the seal.

Also for existing pumps

This feature can be applied on the existing pump series - CX, TX, FX, DX by using the FQ kit or the pump can be selected as an FQ model itself.
The great benefit of the FQ is that it can change the production and maintenance style of the customers without compromising on the desired operating characteristics.
The FQ kit provides high flexibility and functionality with easy maintenance and part replacement possibilities.

To enable a varied range of process fluids and flow rates, the seal flange can accommodate different pump sizes!

Seal flange accommodates different pump sizes

Moreover, to enable a varied range of process fluids and flow rates, the seal flange can accommodate different pump sizes!
For example, the DX 20 can be converted to DX 20/10 or 20/5 and FX 22 can be converted to FX 22/14 or FX 22/8.

In this way, the drive configuration and seal flange can be retained and there can be a possibility to have variations in flow rate depending on the size of the pump that will be installed.

The FQ pump is currently available for the following sizes:

Since the FQ version is unique, the feature is patent protected by MAAG.

Another innovative and smart extension of our industrial pump portfolio!

HNPM to offer solutions with dosing volumes from 0.25 µl.

Automated analysis devices are the essential basis for extensive test capacities for the corona virus. Through parallel and faster processes, automation significantly increases the number of tests, saves manpower and ensures process reliability.

For sample preparation for SARS-CoV-2, a few microliters of a solution of chemicals and enzymes are dosed. Micro annular gear pumps of the low-pressure series from HNP Mikrosysteme perform this demanding task with highest precision and process reliability. The minimum dosing quantity is 0.25 µl, the pumps have a very small footprint and can be easily integrated into control systems. Fully automated analysis devices can contain up to sixteen dosing pumps and can handle up to 4,000 samples in 24 hours.

Micro dosing pumps are also used in research on vaccines and therapies against COVID-19. Every development step in research institutes at universities, in international pharmaceutical companies or in start-ups worldwide is accompanied by numerous laboratory tests. This is a mammoth task, which is also carried out automatically.

Micro pump COVID

HNPM micro dosing pumps are used in the fight against COVID-19 for sample preparation, research for vaccines and therapy

HNPM micro pumps of various series, such as hermetically inert pumps, are used in the production of vaccines. From diagnostics and research to future vaccine production, micro pumps can be used in the fight against COVID-19. In applications requiring small and very small quantities of liquids delivered with high precision, mzr-pumps by HNP Mikrosysteme provide accurate service and ensure process reliability.

HNP Mikrosysteme

HNP Mikrosysteme GmbH, located in Germany, develops, manufactures and markets pumps and systems worldwide which deliver small amounts of liquids fast and accurately. Besides several applications in plant engineering, chemical processing and pharmaceutical processing,mzr-pumps are used in the field of life-science and analytical instrumentation.

HNP Mikrosysteme is represented by Suurmond in Belgium and The Netherlands.
