Quality prevents downtime!

At a time when shortages in raw materials and materials predominate, delivery times are increasing and the call for sustainable solutions is becoming increasingly emphatic, the choice for a reliable process is more important than ever.

Pumps are an essential part of a process in the process industry, the dynamic part of the installation. That one then opts for a high-quality pump seems a foregone conclusion. Although this may not always be the case. Sometimes one opts for a cheaper solution, which may seem suitable for the present application, but the question of downtime remains. This could be a conscious choice. However, in the current market this can be very disadvantageous, as new pumps are not immediately available due to long delivery times. Stagnation of a production line becomes a risk.

Reduce your risks of downtime

Gear pumps are specifically configured for the application and are therefore reliable. Especially in these times of increasing delivery times, an investment in quality products benefits your operational reliability!

Gear pumps

Gear pumps are modular in construction and can therefore be adapted to the specific properties of the liquid to be pumped. Ideal for the chemical industry, because the right materials for the pump housing and the internal parts can be selected for each application.

Due to this modular construction, the pump materials are not only optimally adapted to the chemical properties of the pumped or dosed product, but also to the typical process data such as viscosity and operating temperature.

In this way, the pumps are assembled for the intended purpose, resulting in a maintenance-friendly and reliable solution, leading to a reliable and accurate process!

Quick cleaning and smart retrofitting with different pump sizes

This new MAAG pump series, called “FQ” – ‘quick cleaning’ version, is being released for the production facilities with a constant need to clean and wash the transfer line at the end of each production batch, use different colours, use different additives etc. The pump can be disassembled quickly without needing to dismantle the drive shaft from the drive motor and the seal.

The FQ can be disassembled quickly without needing to dismantle the drive shaft from the drive motor and the seal.

Also for existing pumps

This feature can be applied on the existing pump series - CX, TX, FX, DX by using the FQ kit or the pump can be selected as an FQ model itself.
The great benefit of the FQ is that it can change the production and maintenance style of the customers without compromising on the desired operating characteristics.
The FQ kit provides high flexibility and functionality with easy maintenance and part replacement possibilities.

To enable a varied range of process fluids and flow rates, the seal flange can accommodate different pump sizes!

Seal flange accommodates different pump sizes

Moreover, to enable a varied range of process fluids and flow rates, the seal flange can accommodate different pump sizes!
For example, the DX 20 can be converted to DX 20/10 or 20/5 and FX 22 can be converted to FX 22/14 or FX 22/8.

In this way, the drive configuration and seal flange can be retained and there can be a possibility to have variations in flow rate depending on the size of the pump that will be installed.

The FQ pump is currently available for the following sizes:

Since the FQ version is unique, the feature is patent protected by MAAG.

Another innovative and smart extension of our industrial pump portfolio!

Integrated solution from a single source

Our partner, the Swiss-based MAAG Group has been contracted by Belgian company Ravago to install a new line for the recycling of polyolefins. The decisive factor in the contract award was MAAG Group's high-level system expertise as a global solutions provider supplying process technology for the polymer, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries.

MAAG Group is supplying the line as a complete plant system, all from a single source - including the control technology. The control system comes from XANTEC Steuerungs- und EDV-Technik GmbH, which MAAG Group acquired in 2020. The Ravago contract affirms the Group's strategy of boosting its activities in the field of digitalization and Industry 4.0, offering customers intelligent, agile and competitive solutions.

To produce homogenous, consistent micro pellets ≥ 0.3 mm

Suurmond have added a new product range to their portfolio for the food and pharma industries; the MAAG PFS series for hot-melt extrusion and micro pelletizing. With the advanced technologies by MAAG, a new era has begun when it comes to making high quality solid dosage forms for pharmaceutical and food applications.

MAAG’s technologies produce homogenous, consistent micro pellet sizes, ensure continuous manufacturing in simplified processes, avoids the creation of dust during the process and require no grinding! The complete PFS range complies with pharma and food directives!

The use of micro pellets

Pellets are neither powder nor granules; they are characterized by a defined shape and a very narrow particle size distribution. This allows a very wide range of applications that integrate active substances such as tableting, and capsule filling in the pharmaceutical industry, and sweetener and gum base in the food industry. Since no grinding is used in the process, the structure and the effectiveness of active substances remain unaffected.

The PFS range consist of:

Process equipment for highest quality micro pellets

HME and micro pelletizing process

Hot-melt extrusion

Hot-melt extrusion (HME) has been revealed as a successful technology for a large spectrum of applications in the pharmaceutical industry, with proven robustness for numerous drug delivery systems. With HME, even the processing of poorly soluble carrier/active substance combinations, no longer poses a major problem in the pharmaceutical industry.

Some of the most well-known applications are for taste-masking of drugs, solubility enhancement of poorly water-soluble compounds, controlled, extended, sustained and targeted drug delivery.

The MAAG extrex® PFS gear pumps are specially designed for applications in the pharmaceutical industries. Such applications require specific design characteristics: high discharge pressure capability, constant throughput, gentle conveying, and narrow temperature ranges. In such an environment, the proven extrex® gear pumps unfold their full potential.

Micro pelletizing

MAAG offer different types of micro pelletizers, meeting precisely the demands of the pharmaceutical industry with its specially developed pelletizing systems. The innovative pelletizing technology results in particles of uniform shape and size for optimal direct further processing.

The various types of pelletizing systems are all dedicated to a certain type of formulation or process such as:

Maag Pump Systems, a world leading manufacturer of metering gear-pumps, have developed a new range of small gear-pumps for the chemical industry: the pump types flexinox™ (FX) and dosix™ (DX). The driver to develop this new range was to make a chemical pump range with a wider flow rate and reduced costs and increased benefits for the users.

Pump types that are phased out

The flexinox™ (FX) and dosix™ (DX) pumps will eventually replace the cinox® & therminox® pumps in the sizes 22, 28, 36 & 45. Other pump sizes remain available.
The internal parts of the flexinox™ are identical to those of the cinox® & therminox® pumps, so spare parts are unaffected by this new development.

MAAG Flexinox 3-piece gear pump allows for easy servicing

3-piece design allows for easy servicing

The new gear pumps will be much easier to service due to a 3-piece design for the housing. This means that the housing is separate to the front cover allowing for easier removal of the bearings. This was always a challenge with the older cinox® & therminox® pumps.

New pump for smaller flow rates for accurate dosing

The new dosix™ pumps have smaller displacement volumes (lower flow rates) than the traditional cinox® & therminox® pumps. The DX pumps are available in sizes 14 and 20 with a smaller pump still in development. These new DX pumps are specially designed for accurate dosing applications and available with modified gears for higher volumetric efficiency in case of low viscosities at high differential pressure.
