The Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient Industry is the organ by which active pharmaceutical ingredients are manufactured from raw materials through both chemical and physical means. Active pharmaceutical ingredients or APIs can be defined as the chemicals used to manufacture pharmaceutical drugs. Depending on the complexity of the molecule required, synthesis of APIs might need multi-step complex chemistry utilizing a range of processing technologies.

Glass pharma reactors are often used for synthesis and small-scale production of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals (APIs).
Many of our customers are involved in the production of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). The used processing equipment must be designed according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and the processes must be validated.

BÜCHI offers a wide range of cGMP and ATEX equipment for the synthesis of APIs.
Various modular glass reactor systems, varying from MiniPilot to ChemReactors and pressure reactors are available to perform API synthesis. A range of nutsch filters to safely separate solids and (inert) liquids after synthesis perfectly complement the range of reactor systems.
