Reactor Systems

The stirrer shaft sealing is a key component of chemical reactors. It results in leakage-free operation of the rotating stirrer shaft. A stirrer shaft sealing shall be dry–running; avoiding any contamination of the chemistry by a lubricant. The stirrer is an important piece of equipment, it is responsible for mixing and heat transfer, so the dimensions and shapes are crucial.

Magnetic stirrer drives

The use of stirrer drives / magnetic couplings

For pressure reactors, stirrer drives with magnetic couplings are used. Due to their static sealing, they can be operated at full vacuum and very high pressures and high temperatures, for mixing of very high viscosity media.

BÜCHI magnetic couplings (bmd type), equipped with stirrer motor, speed transmission and optional frequency converter to adjust the stirrer speed (ATEX version) form a complete stirrer drive for Laboratory- and larger Pilot Plant reactors.

BÜCHI stirrer drives type cyclone with integrated magnetic coupling and electronic speed controller are used for torques up to 300 Ncm and as non-Ex version for laboratory use.
Metal-free magnetic couplings (bmd 250 I) and stirrer drives (cyclone 250 i ac) feature inert behaviour and full corrosion resistance, as no metal can get in contact with the process media.
