MAAG gear pumps make it possible to reliably transport oligomers and prepolymers and the finished polymers (plastic melts) in one flow, even at low filling levels and with high vacuum on the suction side of the melt pump. The combination of low pressure in the gear pump against high pressure and low shear of the plastic melt is made possible in a gentle way by a specially developed toothing in the gear pump. The production process of polymers has several stages. For each stage, specific solutions are needed to produce an optimal quality of polymers. Polymer pumps are widely used for both the production of polymers and the processing of polymers from pellets to semi-finished products. This means that polymer pumps are used for all stages within polymer production and processing:

  1. Polymerization : both as an extraction pump under the reactor and as a transfer pump
  2. Compounding : of virgin material and masterbatches
